Plant Description: Perennial woody herb or shrub with prostrate or erect stems to 30 cm with ovate or oval leaves 1-4 cm long, opposite. Flowers axillary without pedicles, with corolla up to 2.5 cm long, lavender, bilateral, with a narrow tube; stamens 2.

Occurrence: Frequent on various soils in pastures, woods, and wase places, often shaded.

Bloom Period: February-December

Plant Use: Host plant for Tiny Checkerspot, Elada Checkerspot, Texan Crescent and Vesta Crescent butterflies. Nice ground cover.
