Plant Description: A natural hybrid that may occur even were the parent species, A. auriculata and A. robusta are absent. It is more robust than the parent and has stouter peduncles. Petal color is the same. Annual to 45 cm high with narrow, basally broadened (auricled) leaves 2-10 long, opposite, sessile, linear to narrowly lanceolate, broadened at the base. Flowers in peduncled clusters. Petals 1-3 mm long, reddish purple.
