Plant Description: Slender annual to 45 cm high with linear leaves 1-3 cm long, opposite at base alternate higher up. Flowers in spikelike racemes, the corolla usually 10-18 mm long including spur, light violet-blue to lavender.
Plant Trivia: The common name comes from the resemblance of the leaves to those of flax, Linum.
Field Identification: At first glance, it looks like Texas Vervain. Closer inspection shows a less wiry main branch and larger flowers.
Occurrence: Frequent on sandy soils in prairies, openings, fields, and waste places.
