Description: Annual with genticulate (abruptly bent stems) culms to nearly 1 m long. Rooting may occur at the lower nodes. Sheaths shorter than to about equal to the internodes, compressed. Panicles 2-12 cm long.
Location: Locally abundant. Found in waste places. Common plant of the Coastal Plains and Piney Woods.
Soil Type: Sandy soils.
