Cenchrus echinatus


Description: Annual with genticulate (abruptly bent stems) culms to nearly 1 m long. Rooting may occur at the lower nodes. Sheaths shorter than to about equat to the internodes, compressed. Panicles 2-12 cm long.
Location: Locally abundant; found in waste places; common plant of the Coastal Plains and Piney Woods.
Soil Type: Sandy soils.

Economic, Environmental Importance: Poor for wildlife and livestock.
