Plant Description: Perennial herb, typically 2-4 inches in height, spreads along the ground, matt-forming. Deep green leaves mostly linear, lanceolate or oblanceolate, 1-3 cm long, fleshy, opposite, appear almost waxy. Inflorescence is a dense cluster of small, white to pink flowers with a characteristic “silver” appearance.
Plant Trivia: Studied for its resilience and ability to grow in harsh conditions (high salinity, salt wind spray).
Field Identification: Low-growing succulent plant with puffy, white flower heads.
Occurrence: Common on wet, brackish or salty soils along beaches, and in flats or marshes.
Plant Use: Soil stabilization.
