Plant Description: Perennial, 20-60 cm high. Leaves mostly 10-20 cm long, elliptic, spatulate or oblong, all basal, leathery. Leaf size is smaller with increased salinity. Flowers, highly branched in spicate panicles, the corolla 5-7 mm long, lavender-blue. Flowers on a single stalk emanating from roseate of leaves. Blue petals fall away leaving white sepals.
Plant Trivia: growth of successive rosettes of leaves is an adaptation for rising saline waters.
