Field Identification: This is a landscape or ornamental species naturalized for the S. Texas Climate. It is commercially available from nurseries.
Plant Trivia: Tropical shrub or vine. Caution: ALL parts are poisonous. Drought tolerant when established. Greek, “aurantiacum” means orange.
Occurrence: Requires partial shad or full sun. Well drained soil required. Native to Guatemala and Nicaragua.
Bloom period: Late Spring to Fall.
Plant Use: Attracts butterflies, hummingbirds and bees. Suitable for trellises training or as garden border focal point.
