Description: Perennial, usually stoloniferous, with culms to 35 cm long. Glumes of lateral spikelets with scattered glands at the base or glands absent.
Location: Found on mesas and plains of South Texas and south-central Texas.
Soil Type: Most soils.
Trivia: Comes in 2 varieties: H. belangeri belangeri & H. berlangeri longifolia distinguished by the former having stolons while the latter does not.
Economic, Environmental Importance: Poor for wildlife and fair for livestock. Good ground cover that can be used as turf and be mowed. Good for erosion control.
