Plant Description: Perennial to 75 cm high with elliptic or oblong-linear leaves 8-17 cm long, alternate. Stems often reddish. Flowers small, greenish, in somewhat condensed inflorescences; sepals 6, the inner 3 growing in the size to surround the fruit. Fruiting perianth about 4 mm long.
Plant Trivia:
Specific epithet chrysocarpus is derived from two Greek words for “golden” and “fruit.”

Occurrence: Common in heavier sands in ditches, swales, streams bottoms and other well-watered places.,
