Plant Description: Annual with usually spindly, prostrate stems to 35 cm long and oblanceolate or spatulate to linear leaves 1-2.5 cm long, basal, in rosettes, or in whorls around stems. Flowers tiny, petals absent, sepals 5, white. Tepals 1.8-3 mm long, white.

Plant Trivia: Introduced from tropical America.

Occurrence: Common on various soils in open areas, prairies, disturbed places, ditches, and fields. Often found around moist places but is not limited to such areas.
